Man-Hsuan Hsu

 

Man-Hsuan Hsu is a guzheng (Chinese zither) musician engaged in both performance and composition. She currently works as music producer of Wind Music and guzheng adjunct lecturer at the Department of Chinese Music of Chinese Culture University. She was adjunct music instructor at various organizations, including Gentlemen Association Republic of China, Taipei Hwa Kang Arts School, ChongcingJunior High School, and Shanhe Junior High School.

 

She graduated from the Graduate Institute of Arts in the Chinese Culture University with a degree of guzheng performance. She began learning piano and guzheng from Chun-Chih Huang. Later she studied guzheng with Li-Ting Lin, Der-Dong Wei, Yung-Ching Ding, Hao-Yin Huang, Wei-Tzu Fan, Mong Lee. She also learned percussion and Chinese flute during her time in Taipei Hwa Kang Arts School. She was awarded Yamaha Piano Prize and New Musical Talent in Chinese Culture University.

 

Her production “Bonjour, Cosmos” was nominated “Best Album for Popular Performance”in the 22nd Golden Melody Award 2011. “Splendid Strings on the Move” is a crossover guzheng album produced, composed, and performed all by herself. It is nominated the “Best Crossover Album” in the 25th Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts 2014, as well as the 14th Independent Music Awards in the United States of America.
