Tang-Hsuan Lo

 

Graduated from National Taiwan Normal University Graduate Institute of Ethnomusicology, Erhu player Tang-Hsuan Lo studied the erhu since age 9. As a Cross-Over Musician, Lo has not only deeply immersed himself in traditional musical culture over a long period of time, but has also participated in the development of new cross-cultural musical forms. Lo has frequently been invited to work with artists from all over the world working in many different genres, including pop singer Crowd Lu, DJ Xuan Liu, producer and guitarist Norman Hsu, French cellist Hugues Vicent etc. He also recorded movie soundtracks from movies “My Greeky Nerdy Buddies”, “Zone Pro Site” and “Faithball”.

 

In 2014, his album “Jazz Erhu: Hu Says” was nominated for “Best Crossover Album” of the Golden Melody Awards for the Traditional Arts, and “Best Jazz Album” and “Best Jazz Single” of the Golden Indie Music Awards. The same year, his second album, a live pefromance recording, “Taiwan Erhu, T.S. Lo” was published by Buda Musicque in France and received great reviews.

 

Tang-Hsuan Lo has performed not only throughout Taiwan but also in various cities in Europe, Asia, and America, he is considered one of the most versatile and popular erhu players of his generation.

Hudagi Crossover Trio

 

Erhu+Cello+Guitar=Classical+Pop+Traditional+Jazz

 

Hudagi Crossover Trio was formed in 2012, the group consists 3 Taiwanese musicians of very different background, Tang-Hsuan Lo on the Erhu, Annie Chang on the Cello and Joe Hsieh on the Guitar. Each of them are brilliant musicians in their own fields but they all share a creative vision; to make a new sound with the combination of their instruments. Their compositions and music arrangement take ideas and materials from traditional Chinese music, classical music, pop music, jazz and even folk songs. Their music is a clever creation that brings pleasant and enjoyable harmony to the audiences.
